Karahan Tepe is being excavated and what is coming out of the ground is remarkable. I (Hugh Newman) first visited the un-excavated site in the Tektek Mountains of Sanliurfa, Anatolia in 2014 with Andrew Collins and our group of Megalithomaniacs, with two further visits in 2015 and 2018, but we could only see the tops of T-pillars on the surface of the hill. Lots of them, 250 in total. There was also on view an 18ft unfinished T-shaped monolith and some relief carvings on a few stones. We were always discussing what was going to be found, so I'm delighted that this treasure trove was right under our feet. Look at the carvings and the pillars carved out of solid bedrock, especially the Tiwanaku-style protruding head. This is a very strange site in the middle of nowhere. Plus there are more sites being excavated right now in the area of Gobekli Tepe in a zone called 'Tas Tepeler,' meaning 'Stone Hills', and covers an area of 124 miles in width. The site will be opening to visitors by the summer of 2022.
